What we do

Access to China, established in May 2002, enables overseas businesses to develop and expand trading in the Chinese market.

We bring together overseas businesses and the Chinese market — with practical support across IT, platforms, and real-world trading operations.

Practical takeaway: The fastest route to progress is combining technical readiness with a clear trading route (B2B, B2C, distributors, or platforms).

Trading experience in China

Historically, our core IT business development and services have been trading in China for over 20 years.

In our Chinese trading, we have manufactured, imported, and exported over 75 products for Avon. Our group of companies also owns and operates hotels and retail shops.

Practical takeaway: We focus on what works in practice — not theory — because the Chinese market rewards execution.

IT services and data centre capability

Being an IT-based business, we have access to a Data Centre and can provide services to support your technical needs as your business develops in China.

We have been operating data centre services since 1997, before the establishment of Access to China in 2002, and were among the first businesses to have its website published in China.

Practical takeaway: If your website and systems are not reliable inside China, sales and partnership discussions stall — performance is part of trust.

China operations and local ownership

Our staff have been running a Chinese business for over 30 years. Access to China is part of a group of companies operating in China and the UK.

Our companies in China are entirely Chinese-owned businesses (not overseas companies operating in China), which enables us to operate without some of the local restrictions placed on overseas companies in China.

Practical takeaway: Local ownership and real operating history matters — it changes what you can do, and how quickly you can do it.

Leadership

Our CEO, Peter Heather, has over 40 years of experience in IT operations and development, including work supporting BA, Dixons, and Forte.

Peter and the company team have deployed systems in China for over 10 years, using a comprehensive understanding of local services and issues.

Practical takeaway: China projects succeed when technical delivery, local constraints, and business goals are managed as one plan.
About Access to China

If you are planning China market entry, these are the checks that prevent expensive mistakes.

Quick checklist

Use these checks to keep trust and usability high.

  • Can your website load reliably inside mainland China (no blocked resources)?
  • Do you know whether you need ICP filing / ICP license for your model?
  • Have you chosen the correct route: B2B, B2C, distributor, or marketplace?
  • Have you protected your trademark and key IP in China?
  • Do you have a plan for payments, shipping, returns, and customer support?
  • Are you validating partners and company registrations before committing time or money?
Note: “Looking Chinese” is not the goal. Trust comes from consistency, authenticity, and a smooth mobile experience.
